We all know that model bloat is a thing, a thing that is exaggerated significantly when two generations of a model skip out on whole decades like the 21st-century "Mini..." and FIAT 500. Even so, it seems strange for a car company to celebrate just how flabby their retro cars are. This is the new 500 Ron Arad Edition, which features a scaled line drawing of the 1957 Cinquecento on the side of a 2014 500 hatchback. The Ron Arad Edition - which is an edition designed by Ron Arad - will feature all the special trimmings and cost some money when it goes on sale in Europe some time.

But wait, there's more! Here are the first photos of the new 500X crossover.

Plainly the designers of this new 5000 (like the disgusting 500L, it's based on a FIAT Grande Punto, not a 500/Panda) designed any old crossover and then slapped some round headlights and a chrome moustache on the front to trick people into thinking it has anything to do with the FIAT 500. Oh, and some 2014 BMW-MINI tail lights, because why the fuck not?

But hey, it doesn't matter how ridiculous all this is. Apathetic morons will forever buy into retro brand prostitution......

To be fair the 500 hasn't grown that much and the original was insanely small. Much less room inside than an original mini for example.

I don't know about you, but there's no way in hell you'd catch me in an original 500 on an American highway.

It's not bloat, its common sense and safety.

That Ron Arad edition is actually kind of cool. I probably wouldn't drive around in it, but it's fun to look at.

Common sense is why the original car is that small. It's not made for America...

Trying to tell me a small FWD car that gets good gas mileage while still being safe for its size isn't common sense?
